I started doing CrossFit in 2018 as a way to cross-train for a marathon I was preparing for and ended up loving it immensely! I was new to the area and the community was so welcoming. I have found that this is the case no matter which box I workout in. I started out as a gymnastics coach in 2012 and did so continuously while in college and graduate school. I also coach CrossFit kids, which helps me come up with even more fun and creative ways to coach adults!
I think the reason I enjoy CrossFit so much is that it gives me a sense of community when I am new to an area. I can walk into any box, in any town and jump in on a class with people that have a similar mindset. I have gone to boxes all over the country (even one in Austria) and have never felt out of place or unwelcome. I am passionate about continuing that type of inclusive environment in the Rochester community through coaching at Brickyard CrossFit.
