I grew up in Maine and joined the Air Force as soon as I graduated high School. For 22 years, I was able to see the world and serve my country. I landed in Rochester to teach Air Force ROTC cadets at RIT as my last active-duty assignment before retiring. For the last 13 years, I have been an electronic medical record software trainer for medical staff at URMC Medical Center. Although the military introduced me to fitness at a level that satisfied its requirements, it wasn’t until I started running at a later age that I was really motivated to become a healthier version of myself by training and competing in multiple marathons, half-marathons, and smaller races. Outside of CrossFit, I am a writer, oil painting artist, voice over artist, and avid hiker. All things creative are my passion.
Still relatively new to CrossFit, my kids and wife are my motivation to improving my health and setting an example for my 3 boys. Running was my jam until my wife, Trudy, introduced me to CrossFit, which is—hands down—the best overall program in making me stronger as I enter the middle-age years. My wife and I are half-way through hiking the 46 High Peaks in the Adirondacks and CrossFit has been instrumental in making us much stronger and our 15-20+ mile hikes…..a wee bit easier 😊. I’m always impressed with the CrossFit community providing amazing support to people of all ages and levels. As a new CrossFit coach, I am motivated to learn as much as I can so I can help others do the same and become the healthiest version of themselves by pushing their individual limits.
